The game, which takes approximately 30 minutes to play, is a variation of the 2001 Game of the Year, Carcassonne, which has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.

The Ark of the Covenant takes players on a journey into the Old Testament with Joshua, a biblical prophet, leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land. Two to five players compete to control cities, roads, flocks and temples using tiles to create the dynamic playing area. In addition, players take on the sacred duty of moving the Ark of the Covenant to different areas of land.
