The Ark of the Covenant

Touch the Ark of the Covenant...Without Getting Burned

Issaquah, WA - June 16, 2003 - Inspiration Games, a division of Uberplay Entertainment LLC, announced today that they will publish The Ark of the Covenant, a game based on the 2001 Game of the Year, Carcassonne™ by Klaus-Jurgen Wrede, which has sold over 1,500,000 copies worldwide. The game will be targeted towards families and the Christian population and will be published in English and German, with more language versions coming shortly.

In The Ark of the Covenant, players compete with to control cities, roads, flocks and temples using tiles to create the dynamic playing area. In addition, players can move the Ark around the tiles to score points when it passes their "prophets".

"Inspiration Games started with a vision of taking the best known, addictive, proven board and card games in the world and to apply religious and inspirational themes to them," says Jeremy Young, CEO of Inspiration Games. "That is why we wanted to make a Biblical version of Carcassonne. Carcassonne certainly fits that criteria. Together with, Klaus-Jurgen Wrede, we think have come up with a game that is fun, easy to learn and just as addicting as the original."

Based on Old Testament lands of Judah, The Ark of the Covenant is intended to be a fun, easy way for parents to teach about the Bible.

"Families will enjoy the Biblical theme and simple rules," said Young. "It's a fun, light way to learn more about the Bible. And because of the way the game is played, you will get a new setup with new variety every time. It will never become predictable or boring."

The game comes packaged with 1 Ark of the Covenant, 72 sturdy tile pieces, 40 wooden pieces, 5 wooden "prophet" pieces, 1 scoring track and 1 instructional booklet.

"People will immediately see the difference in quality and the fun-factor between games like The Ark of the Covenant and other games frequently played here in the United States," says Matt Molen, Vice President of Marketing for Inspiration Games. "Our products will set a new standard of what people will come to expect for family board and card game entertainment."

Release Dates

The Ark of the Covenant is for 2 to 5 players, ages 10 and older. Playing time is 30-45 minutes. The Ark of the Covenant is estimated to be available in the November 2003 at Christian bookstores, hobby game stores and online. The suggested retail price will be $24.95.
